The ability to sort by multiple columns, for example, sort by client, then by type, then by matter. In addition, the ability to group by one or more fields would be helpful as well.

I created a report of all my matters. I sorted it by Application Number then by Examiner Name so that Examiner Name is that main sorting criteria. For any given examiner name, the application numbers were in order. I saved it as a new test report. I opened some other report and then opened my test report. The matters were sorted by examiner name, but for any given examiner name, the application numbers were in no predictable order.

If there is an existing way to save a report with a multi-level sort as Kim requests, I would love to know.

@jonah-soundhound-com I think Mike is mostly correct--for sorting, the previous sorts are retained, to the extent they can be, whenever a new sort is applied. If you replace "filter" in Mike's answer with "sort," it seems accurate.

However, there is no ability to group in AppColl that I am aware of (although maybe you can do this in advanced reports--I haven't played around with it enough to know).

          Cheers,
          Christian

@MikeO5888 I do not think that what you describe is what @KimG5166 is requesting. She would like to do a multi-level sort without filtering. Unless there is a way to filter on a column in a way that always matches all values, using levels of filters would hide information that @KimG5166 wants to see.

If I've misunderstood, please let me know.

You can sort by multiple columns.

Lets say you want to filter on Country and then AttorneyRef. I believe you would first filter on AttorneyRef and then Country. You can add as many filters as you want. Basically, you would sort backwards. The columns won't indicate that they are still within the sort. Only the final selection will be indicated. Hope that makes sense??
