Parse email subject line for Docket Number/Client Reference
-
Right now, FAs (and others) don't play well with the individual matter intake email address and so it would be great to have some auto-parsing features based on information in the email/subject line.
I would love to be able to parse an email subject line for a reference number and create a task in that associated matter.
For example an email comes in to the generic appcoll email; but based on parsing the subject line it could trigger the creation of a task in a particular matter based on the lookup. Otherwise, a default task could be triggered.

@jonah-soundhound-com And based on my experience, I can guarantee that foreign associates will do that.

My concern would be that it gives the external email sender the ability to mess up my docketing by using the wrong reference number.
A common example might be when there is a notice of allowance in a matter ending in "US1" and the client asks for a continuation that will be docketed as "US2", but the email thread continues with "US1" in the subject line then any attached documents that get stored or tasks that get created will be associated with the wrong matter. Even worse is if the reference number is "123_US1" and the email sender accidentally makes it "13_US1" and that causes tasks to get created in the wrong patent family in a way that might be confusing for some users to back out and correct.

@MarkW5689 Yes! I would really like this, for the reasons given. Some of my foreign associates are not capable of storing per-matter e-mail addresses, so they send all correspondence to my general in-take mailbox. It would be great to have an automatic facility that parses the subject line and then stores the message in an appropriate matter. Storing in the matter should trigger the "Receive e-mail message" event in that matter.
