Has anyone configured for task to be assigned to more than one owner?

I'm looking for solutions to assign tasks to a working attorney and the supervising attorney. Is there a way to do this without going into every single action and adding a notification?

@JonahP1621 I've certainly worked with more than one docketing systems that allowed matters and docket entries to be assigned to multiple attorneys. That way, things would show up on each person's docket. Usually, the docketing system simply designated them as Attorney 1, Attorney 2, etc. and the firm could choose by policy the roles assigned to each of the Attorney n fields. At one big firm where I was a partner, at least one partner insisted that docket reports produced for him only show docket items for those few cases where he was the working attorney. The system we had there was so bad that I found to my horror that
one docketing clerk spent their entire day just producing daily docket reports for each attorney by running a giant docket for everyone, then manually extracting the docket for each attorney into a spreadsheet for just that person. I was able to cut that down to no more than an hour by writing some code to split the giant docket into individual files. It wasn't a great solution but was the best we could do with the limited capability of the system.

@MichelleM6342 Can I ask what your goal is for doing this, so I can understand better? We are using the Contributor role to assign tasks to "working" attorneys, while the "supervising" attorney owns the matter, and is therefore responsible for all tasks. The way that you build/run your reports might also factor into getting to your end goal.

I believe that an underlying tenet of AppColl tasks, and most docketing system tasks in general, is that one and only one person is responsible for a task. Surely, within the processes of a multi-person firm or company, the person doing the task will rely on the involvement of others. However, that one person is responsible for ensuring that the task is complete and then closing it in AppColl.

It would be possible to have two separate tasks, such as one for the working attorney and another for the supervising attorney. You might even have one generated as an effect of the other becoming closed.

But, just as tasks have one and only one respond-by date and one and only one final due date, they also have one and only one owner. That's the person who receives a holiday card when something goes right and where the fingers point when something goes wrong.
