Open search field under module tabs
-
Would anyone else like the open search field, which appears under the module tab headers, to be modified to include the Country Code when results appear?
For example, for Madrid Protocol matters the "title" (mark name) is the same. Let's assume the mark name is MY MARK and the IB registration has designated 10 jurisdictions. The results in the search field (if searching MY MARK) would list likely 12 results (the basic US matter, the IB matter, and the 10 jurisdictions). At a glance it is not possible to know which matter is the AU designation (again as an example).
In our database the 10 designated matters would have a 'title' such as MY MARK (IB designation). So, our work around is to further change the 'title' to MY MARK (IB-AU designation). We generally do not like to include other database field values in another field, because each field in order to retain database integrity should only include one value type. The 'title' field should only include the mark and no other values such as a country code.
This is one of our database philosophies, and so to stick to that, we are asking if others would like to see the search field modified so that search results could include the country code.
Please vote if you would like to see this modification. Would also appreciate others' feedback if you have a different work around (outside of running a report in the Matters module).

@AnnM9156 thanks for your input. We use an arbitrary attorney reference number format which does not include a country code.

An example of my attorney ref format would be T567AU1 for a trademark (T) application filing in matter family 567 (567) in country AU (AU) being the first application (1) filed in that country in that family. Using that system, search results are ordered by family then by country. As long as all members of the family have the same title, and the search query matches that title, the results will be ordered alphabetically by country, and I can tell which country because the search box results show the attorney ref on the left of all other information.

@MelissaT3398 Like other firms I've been at, my current firm includes the country code in the matter number. E.g., the AU designation in a Madrid case would be 1234.0002AU. So including an extra copy of the country code in the search results would be counterproductive for us, since it would take up more of the limited space.

@MelissaT3398 Something like that would be nice. Right now I append the docket # like this "12345.0001 (AU/TM)" when it is a foreign matter.
